P2797 indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) has detected a performance fault with the electric auxiliary transmission fluid pump, specifically that the pump is stuck off or not generating the expected pressure or current draw when commanded on. The TCM monitors the pump's electrical circuit and hydraulic output, and when the pump fails to respond or its feedback signal does not match the commanded state, it sets this code and may disable the pump or alter transmission operation.
