1. What This Policy Covers
This policy applies only to Online Memberships: memberships you buy through autoveteran.tech, where payment is taken by our payment processor, Paystack, by card or mobile money such as M-Pesa.
It does not apply to memberships verified through a Facebook subscription. Refunds for those are handled by Facebook under its own policies. It also does not apply to anything else we sell or provide, such as the shop or third-party products. Support payments are covered by section 7A below.
Online Memberships come as monthly, 3-month, 6-month and annual plans. Each payment covers the whole period of the plan you chose, and the rules below apply in the same way to every plan.
2. The 3-Day Refund Window
You may request a full refund of an Online Membership payment within 3 days (72 hours) of the time we charged it. This applies to your first payment and to each renewal payment.
3. Eligibility
A refund is available only if all of the following are true:
- the payment you want refunded was made within the 3-day window;
- you have not used any members-only content since that payment. Using content means that you have downloaded a members-only file, opened a members-only article, or viewed a members-only forum board. Public pages are not affected;
- the membership has not already been refunded; and
- the payment has not been reversed, and you have not started a dispute or chargeback for it with your bank, card provider or mobile money provider.
4. How to Request a Refund
Sign in, open the Membership page, choose Request a refund, and confirm. If you are eligible, we will:
- cancel your subscription, so that no further payments are taken;
- issue the refund for the payment in question; and
- end your membership straight away, and send you an email confirmation.
If you are not eligible, the refund page tells you which condition is not met.
5. How and When You Receive Your Refund
Refunds go back to the original payment method. We refund the full amount charged for the payment. Depending on your bank, card provider or mobile money provider, the refund can take 5 to 10 business days to reach you. Any fees they charge are set by them, and are outside our control.
6. What Is Not Refundable
The following are not refundable under this policy:
- any payment made more than 3 days before your refund request;
- any payment after you have used members-only content (see section 3);
- part of a billing period, including unused time, and pro-rated amounts;
- a payment you have already refunded, or that has been reversed or charged back; and
- a payment you forgot to cancel. Please cancel before your renewal date if you do not want to be charged again.
7. Cancelling Your Membership
You can cancel your renewals at any time from the Manage or cancel subscription button on the Members page or your dashboard. Cancelling stops future payments. Your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, plus a 10-day grace period, as set out in our Terms of Service. Cancelling does not, on its own, refund the current period. A refund is available only under sections 2 to 4 of this policy.
7A. Support Payments
A support payment is a one-off payment of an amount you choose, made from our Support page to thank us and help keep the site running. It is not a purchase: it does not buy or extend a membership, and it does not unlock members-only content. Support payments are therefore not refundable under sections 2 to 4. If you made a support payment by mistake, for example the wrong amount or the same payment twice, email us within 3 days of the payment and we will refund it in full.
8. Failed Payments, Disputes and Chargebacks
If a renewal payment fails, we will try to take payment again, and your access continues during the grace period. If you dispute a payment with your bank, card provider or mobile money provider instead of asking us for a refund, we may suspend your membership while the dispute is resolved. Where a payment has been disputed, we will not also refund it under this policy.
9. Your Statutory Rights
Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under consumer protection law that applies to you, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2012 of Kenya. Where a law gives you more protection than this policy, that law applies in addition.
If you buy from a country whose law gives you a right to cancel digital content within a set period (for example, a 14-day right in the European Union or United Kingdom), that right may apply to your purchase. When you start your membership, you are asked to tick a box that asks us to start providing members-only content straight away. By ticking it, you acknowledge that once you have downloaded a members-only file or opened members-only content, you may lose that cancellation right for the content already provided. Section 3 explains what counts as using content.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Changes apply only to payments made after the date the updated policy is published. They do not change a payment you have already made.
11. Governing Law and Contact
This policy is part of our Terms of Service, and it is governed by the laws of Kenya as set out in section 20 of those Terms. To ask a question or request a refund by email, write to [email protected].
