DTC codes / P24xx · Auxiliary emission controls / P2481
P2481 means the engine control module (ECM) has detected an abnormally low voltage on the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor circuit for bank 1 sensor 5, which is typically a post-catalyst or downstream sensor on that bank. The ECM expects the sensor signal voltage to stay within a calibrated range, and a sustained low reading tells the module that the circuit is shorted to ground, the sensor has failed, or the wiring is damaged.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
