P0544Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

P0544 indicates that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an implausible signal or an out-of-range condition on the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor circuit for bank 1 sensor 1, which is the sensor closest to the engine on the bank containing cylinder number one. The PCM monitors this sensor to protect the engine and emissions components from overheating, and it sets the code when the sensor voltage or resistance does not match expected values for the current operating conditions.
