P1533 · GMA/C Low Side Temperature Sensor Circuit

P1533 on a GM vehicle means the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an out-of-range signal from the air conditioning (A/C) low side temperature sensor, which monitors the temperature of the refrigerant leaving the evaporator. The PCM uses this input to protect the compressor from low refrigerant charge or freezing conditions, and it sets the code when the sensor voltage stays outside the expected range for a calibrated time.
