P1163 · GMHO2S Bank 2 Sensor 3 Lean System Or Low Voltage

P1163 on a GM vehicle means the powertrain control module has detected that the downstream heated oxygen sensor on bank 2 (sensor 3) is reporting a lean condition or a low voltage signal that stays below the expected threshold. The computer is seeing a signal from that sensor that indicates either excess oxygen in the exhaust after the catalytic converter or a circuit problem pulling the voltage low.
