DTC codes / P2Dxx · Hybrid propulsion / P2DC9
P2DC9 indicates that the engine control module has detected an excessively high excitation current in the starter/generator control circuit, which is the field current used to control the alternator's output on vehicles with smart charging systems. The computer compares the commanded excitation current with the actual current measured through the control circuit and sets this code when the measured value exceeds the expected range for a calibrated time.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
