DTC codes / P28xx · Transmission / P28D9
P28D9 indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) has detected the electric motor responsible for operating clutch B is running slower than the commanded speed, which can prevent proper engagement or disengagement of that clutch. The TCM compares the motor's actual speed, typically from a position or speed sensor, against the expected speed for the given command and sets the code when the deviation exceeds a calibrated threshold for a set time.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
