DTC codes / P28xx · Transmission / P28C2
P28C2 indicates that the ion sense module has detected a supply voltage that is higher than the manufacturer's expected range, typically above 5.5 volts or battery positive under certain conditions. The powertrain control module (PCM) sets this code when the voltage on the ion sense module's power circuit exceeds the calibrated threshold, which can disrupt the module's ability to accurately measure ionization current in the combustion chamber.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
