P2790Gate Select Direction Circuit

P2790 indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) has detected an implausible signal or electrical fault in the gate select direction circuit, which is part of the shift-by-wire system on vehicles with an electronic gear selector. The TCM monitors the circuit that commands the shift actuator to move the transmission range gate in the selected direction, and it sets this code when the commanded direction does not match the actual gate position or when the circuit voltage is out of range.
