DTC codes / P27xx · Transmission / P2793
P2793 indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) has detected an electrical fault in the gear shift direction circuit, which is responsible for commanding the shift actuator to move the gear selector into the desired position. The TCM monitors the circuit for abnormal voltage or current and sets this code when the signal does not match expected values, often resulting in the transmission being unable to shift properly or entering a limp mode.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
