DTC codes / P27xx · Transmission / P274D
P274D indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) has detected an abnormally high voltage on the signal circuit for transmission fluid temperature sensor C, which is typically a thermistor whose resistance drops as fluid temperature rises. The TCM interprets this high voltage as an open circuit or a sensor reporting an impossibly cold temperature, and it may substitute a default temperature value while logging the fault.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
