P2479Exhaust Gas Temperature Out of Range Bank 1 Sensor 2

P2479 indicates that the engine control module (ECM) has detected an exhaust gas temperature (EGT) reading from bank 1 sensor 2 that is outside the expected range for the current operating conditions. This sensor monitors the temperature after the catalytic converter on the bank that contains cylinder number one, and the ECM sets the code when the signal voltage or calculated temperature falls below or rises above a calibrated threshold for a set time.
