P22FENOx Sensor Sensing Element Bank 1 Sensor 2

P22FE indicates that the powertrain control module has detected a fault in the sensing element of the downstream nitrogen oxide (NOx) sensor on bank 1, which is the sensor located after the catalytic converter on that bank. The computer monitors the sensor's signal for abnormal response, circuit integrity, or heater performance and sets this code when the sensing element fails to produce a valid reading within expected parameters.
