P22C2O2 Sensor Pumping Current Trim Circuit/Open (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

P22C2 indicates that the engine control module has detected an open circuit or abnormal condition in the pumping current trim circuit for the downstream oxygen sensor on bank 2, which is the side of the engine that does not contain cylinder number one. The pumping current trim is a small correction current that the wideband oxygen sensor's control module uses to fine-tune the sensor's output, and an open in that circuit prevents the ECM from accurately reading the exhaust oxygen content after the catalytic converter.
