DTC codes / P22xx · Fuel and air metering (injector circuits) / P2296
P2296 means the powertrain control module (PCM) commanded the fuel pressure regulator for the second fuel circuit to a certain duty cycle, but the feedback voltage on the control circuit stayed higher than expected. The computer sees an open or shorted-high condition in the wiring that controls that regulator, so it cannot trust the fuel pressure control for that circuit.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
