P2081Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Intermittent (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

P2081 means the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an intermittent fault in the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor circuit for bank 1 sensor 1, which is the upstream sensor closest to the engine. The PCM monitors the sensor signal for brief dropouts, erratic voltage spikes, or implausible readings that appear and disappear, rather than a hard failure that would set a continuous circuit code.
