DTC codes / P0Axx · Hybrid propulsion / P0A54
P0A54 indicates that the hybrid or electric vehicle control module has detected an abnormally high voltage signal from the current sensor circuit of drive motor A, which is typically the main traction motor. The computer expects the sensor's output to stay within a calibrated range that corresponds to the actual current flowing through the motor, and a high signal means the reported current is far above what the system is commanding or expecting.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
