P1705 · MazdaTransmission Range Sensor Out Of Self Test Range

P1705 on a Mazda means the transmission control module (TCM) ran its internal self-test on the transmission range sensor and found the signal outside the expected window for the gear selector position. The TCM compares the range sensor voltage against the pattern it expects for Park, Reverse, Neutral and Drive, and it sets this code when that comparison fails during the key-on self-test rather than during normal driving.
