P1811 · GMLong Shift / Maximum Adaptation Limit Reached

P1811 on a GM vehicle means the transmission control module (TCM) has detected that a shift is taking longer than the calibrated maximum and that the adaptive shift pressure has reached its upper limit without correcting the condition. The computer commands maximum line pressure to protect the clutches, but the shift still exceeds the allowed time, so it flags the fault and often defaults to a firm or harsh shift strategy.
