P1442 · ChryslerEVAP Vacuum Switch High Voltage During Ignition On

P1442 on a Chrysler vehicle means the powertrain control module (PCM) saw the evaporative emission (EVAP) vacuum switch circuit report a voltage higher than expected during the ignition-on self-test. The PCM expects the switch signal to stay within a calibrated low-voltage range when the engine is not running, and a high-voltage reading tells it the circuit is open, shorted to voltage, or the switch has failed.
