C065DRight Front Wheel Speed Sensor B Correlation

C065D indicates that the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module has detected a correlation error between the right front wheel speed sensor and other wheel speed inputs. The computer compares the right front signal to the left front, rear, and vehicle speed data and finds the right front reading does not match expected values under driving conditions.

Symptoms you may notice

  • ABS warning light illuminated on the dashboard
  • Traction control or stability control warning light also on
  • Often no symptoms besides the warning light
  • Momentary wheel lockup or ABS activation at low speeds
  • Reduced or disabled ABS and traction control functions
  • Speedometer fluctuation or inaccuracy in some vehicles

Common causes, most likely first

  1. Damaged or corroded right front wheel speed sensor wiring or connector
  2. Debris or metallic particles on the sensor tip or tone ring
  3. Worn or damaged tone ring (reluctor ring) on the right front hub
  4. Excessive wheel bearing play or hub runout affecting sensor signal
  5. Faulty right front wheel speed sensor
  6. Corrosion or damage inside the ABS module connector
  7. Internal ABS module correlation logic fault (less common)

How to diagnose and fix it

  1. Inspect the right front wheel speed sensor and tone ring for debris, damage, or looseness
  2. Check the sensor wiring harness and connector for corrosion, chafing, or poor pin fit
  3. Measure sensor resistance and compare to manufacturer specifications
  4. Use a scan tool to view live wheel speed data and compare all four wheels while driving
  5. Check the right front wheel bearing for play and the tone ring for cracks or missing teeth
  6. Perform a continuity and voltage drop test on the sensor circuit to the ABS module
  7. Replace the faulty sensor, tone ring, or hub assembly as needed and clear the code

Correlation codes often mislead parts swappers

  • A correlation code does not automatically mean the right front sensor is bad; the ABS module compares all wheel speeds and may flag the right front when another wheel is actually the outlier.
  • Metallic debris from a failing wheel bearing can collect on the sensor tip and cause a correlation error without any visible damage to the sensor itself.
  • After replacing a sensor or hub, the ABS module may need a calibration or relearn procedure before the code will clear permanently.
  • Intermittent wiring faults that only appear over bumps or during turns often set correlation codes without storing a circuit-specific sensor code.
  • A mismatched tire size or severely uneven tire wear can create a wheel speed difference that the module interprets as a correlation fault.

Can I keep driving with C065D?

The vehicle remains drivable with the warning light on, but ABS and traction control may be disabled, so avoid hard braking or slippery conditions until the fault is repaired. If the brake pedal feels abnormal or the warning light flashes with other brake warnings, stop driving and have the system inspected immediately.

Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
