P1506 · VolkswagenClosed Throttle Position Switch Does Not Open Short To Ground

P1506 on Volkswagen vehicles means the engine control module (ECM) has detected that the closed throttle position switch circuit is shorted to ground, so the switch never shows an open circuit when the throttle should be off idle. The ECM expects the switch to open as soon as the throttle plate moves, and a constant ground on that signal wire tells the computer the throttle is still closed when it is not.
