P2B97 means the powertrain control module (PCM) commanded the exhaust pressure control valve on bank A through its full learning sweep and the valve's position feedback never landed inside the window the software expects. The computer has stored the learned position as out of range, so it can no longer trust the valve's reported position for exhaust pressure regulation.
