DTC codes / P2Axx · Hybrid propulsion / P2A97
P2A97 indicates that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a low-voltage condition on the control circuit for the alternative fuel tank select valve B. This valve directs fuel from a secondary tank, such as a compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank, and the PCM expects a specific voltage on the control wire when the valve is commanded on or off. A low voltage on the circuit tells the PCM that the valve may not be receiving the command to switch tanks, which can prevent the vehicle from running on the alternative fuel.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
