P2A38O2 Sensor Positive Current Control Circuit/Open Bank 1 Sensor 3

P2A38 indicates that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an open circuit or excessive current draw on the positive current control circuit for the downstream oxygen sensor on bank 1, sensor 3. This sensor is used to monitor the efficiency of the catalytic converter, and the PCM commands a specific current to its pump cell to maintain proper operation. When the circuit is open or the current exceeds limits, the PCM sets this code and may disable closed-loop fuel control for that sensor.
