DTC codes / P28xx · Transmission / P28EB
P28EB indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) or powertrain control module (PCM) has not successfully learned the end-of-travel positions for the shift motor, which is used in some automated manual or dual-clutch transmissions to select gears. The computer detects that the learned position values are missing, invalid, or outside the expected range, so it cannot reliably command the shift motor.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
