P28E2Shift Motor Phase U-V-W Circuit/Open

P28E2 indicates that the transmission control module has detected an open circuit in the phase U, V, or W wiring that feeds the shift motor, which is the electric motor responsible for moving the shift forks inside an electrically shifted manual or dual-clutch transmission. The computer monitors current flow through each motor phase and sets this code when the expected electrical path is broken, meaning the motor cannot be commanded to engage or disengage a gear.
