DTC codes / P28xx · Transmission / P28BE
P28BE indicates that the engine control module has detected an abnormally low voltage on the ion current sense circuit for cylinder 12, which is part of the ignition system used to monitor combustion quality. The circuit typically generates a small current across the spark plug gap after the spark event, and a low signal means the module cannot reliably measure ionization, often due to a fault in the sensor, wiring, or spark plug itself.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
