DTC codes / P27xx · Transmission / P272A
P272A indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) has detected an electrical fault in the control circuit for the transmission range select motor, which is the actuator that moves the transmission range selector into the commanded position. The computer monitors the circuit for abnormal voltage, current, or feedback and sets this code when the signal does not match expected values.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
