DTC codes / P27xx · Transmission / P270D
P270D indicates that the transmission control module has detected an excessively high temperature for friction element D, which is one of the internal clutch or band assemblies used to engage gears. The computer compares the temperature reported for that element against a calibrated threshold and sets the code when the element is running hotter than it should, typically due to slipping or a cooling problem.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
