P2698Exhaust Aftertreatment Fuel Injector A Performance

P2698 means the engine computer has commanded the exhaust aftertreatment fuel injector (often called the seventh injector or regeneration injector) to spray fuel into the exhaust stream, but the resulting change in exhaust temperature or pressure did not match what the computer expected. The computer monitors the injector circuit and the downstream exhaust sensors, and when the expected temperature rise or pressure change fails to occur within a calibrated window, it sets this performance code.
