DTC codes / P26xx · Computer and output circuits / P2689
P2689 indicates that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an abnormally high voltage on the fuel supply heater control circuit, which is used to warm the fuel in cold conditions for better vaporization and starting. The PCM expects a certain voltage range when the heater is commanded on or off, and a high reading means the circuit is likely open, shorted to voltage, or the heater element has failed.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
