P2497EGR Cooler Bypass Position Sensor Circuit Bank 2

P2497 means the engine computer has detected an implausible signal from the position sensor that monitors the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler bypass valve on bank 2 of the engine. The sensor reports the bypass valve's position to the computer, and when the voltage or rationality check falls outside the expected range, the computer stores this code and illuminates the check engine light.
