P2484 indicates that the powertrain control module has detected an intermittent or erratic signal from the exhaust gas temperature sensor located at bank 1 sensor 5, which is a post-catalyst sensor on V8 and V10 engines. The computer expects a smooth, predictable voltage change as the exhaust warms and cools, but instead sees sudden drops, spikes, or dropouts that do not match the modeled exhaust temperature.
