DTC codes / P24xx · Auxiliary emission controls / P244D
P244D indicates that the engine control module has determined the exhaust gas temperature at the bank 1 particulate filter is too high for a safe regeneration event. The module compares measured or modeled temperatures against a calibrated threshold and sets the code when the temperature exceeds the limit during regeneration, often to protect the filter and nearby components from thermal damage.
Guidance is general and written for all OBD-II vehicles. Exact tests and values vary by model, so confirm the fault before replacing parts.
