P23AENOx Sensor Circuit Low Bank 1 Sensor 3

P23AE means the engine control module has detected a low-voltage condition on the signal circuit of the third nitrogen oxide (NOx) sensor on bank 1, which is the sensor positioned after the selective catalytic reduction system. The computer expects the sensor's signal voltage to stay within a calibrated range, and a sustained low reading tells it the circuit is shorted to ground, the sensor is failing, or the module is not receiving a valid signal.
