P0505Idle Control System Malfunction

P0505 means the engine computer has detected that the idle speed is outside the range it expects and cannot be corrected through the idle control system. The computer commands the idle air control valve or electronic throttle to adjust airflow, but the resulting engine speed does not match the target idle, so it flags the circuit or system as malfunctioning.
