P0500Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction

P0500 means the powertrain control module (PCM) has lost a valid vehicle speed signal from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) or its circuit. The PCM compares the expected speed input against other data such as engine rpm, throttle position, and transmission output, and it sets this code when the speed reading is missing, erratic, or implausible.
