P1498 · NissanEGR Valve Lift Sensor High Voltage

P1498 on Nissan vehicles means the engine control module (ECM) has detected an abnormally high voltage signal from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve lift sensor, which reports how far the EGR valve pintle has actually moved. The ECM expects the sensor voltage to stay within a calibrated range as the valve opens and closes, and a sustained high reading tells the computer the sensor circuit is shorted to power or the sensor itself has failed.
