P1390 · MitsubishiTiming Belt Skipped One Tooth Or More

P1390 on Mitsubishi vehicles means the engine control module (ECM) has detected that the timing belt has jumped at least one tooth on its sprocket, throwing the camshaft and crankshaft out of sync. The ECM compares signals from the camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor and flags this code when the correlation error exceeds the calibrated threshold. This is a mechanical timing fault, not a sensor failure, and it can cause poor running or a no-start condition.
