P1101 · MazdaMass Air Flow Sensor Circuit Out Of Self-Test Range

P1101 on Mazda vehicles means the engine control module (ECM) ran its internal self-test on the mass air flow (MAF) sensor circuit and found the signal outside the expected range for the current operating conditions. The ECM compares the MAF reading against what it calculates should be possible during key-on or idle self-test routines, and when the voltage or calculated airflow falls outside that window it stores this code and turns on the check engine light.
