B0173HVAC Air Inlet Door

B0173 indicates that the body control module (BCM) or HVAC control module has detected a fault in the circuit that controls the air inlet door, which is the flap that switches between fresh outside air and recirculated cabin air. The computer monitors the electrical circuit for the actuator motor and sets this code when the voltage or current falls outside the expected range, meaning the door may not move to the commanded position.
