Ford is recalling nearly 1 million trucks and SUVs due to missing head restraint information in the owner's manual, posing potential risks of head and neck injuries. Free repairs and manual updates will be provided.

Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for close to 1 million trucks and SUVs due to a deficiency in the owner's manual regarding the correct usage of head restraints. The affected vehicles include certain models of the 2018-2023 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs with third-row seats, as well as the 2019-2023 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600 Super Duty trucks in SuperCab or regular cab configurations equipped with the three-passenger front bench seat.

The missing information pertains to the proper adjustment of head restraints to provide optimal protection in the event of a collision. Ford highlights that improper adjustment may compromise the head and neck injury prevention capabilities of the restraints.

Beginning on July 10, Ford will initiate notifications to owners of the affected vehicles. Authorized dealers will perform the necessary updates to the owner's manuals and ensure proper adjustment of the head restraints at no cost to the customers.

This recall incident is not unprecedented, as similar recalls have occurred in the past due to missing information in owner's manuals. In 2019, General Motors recalled around 400,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks for a comparable issue.

If you own one of the affected vehicles, it is advised to promptly reach out to Ford customer service at 1-800-334-4353 for further assistance.

Here are some additional details regarding the recall:

  1. The recall was announced on June 16, 2023.
  2. The affected vehicles were manufactured between 2018 and 2023.
  3. Ford estimates the recall to incur a cost of $10 million.
  4. To date, no accidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the missing information.

Owners of the affected vehicles should take the following steps:

  1. Contact Ford customer service to schedule a complimentary repair.
  2. Avoid driving the vehicle until the repair has been completed.
  3. Ensure the head restraints in all seating positions are adjusted correctly for optimal positioning and protection.

A 1.5-liter, 400-horsepower engine that weighs just 88 pounds? It sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi novel, yet Nissan brought this powerhouse to life for the DeltaWing project at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This pint-sized engine, nicknamed "Diglett," could rival the power-to-weight ratio of some Formula 1 engines—a feat nearly unheard of for a three-cylinder. With such a compact build, it’s small enough to fit in an airplane’s overhead bin. And yet, it never made it to mainstream production.
