Important Safety Recall: Ford Recalls 1 Million Vehicles for Owner's Manual Oversight

Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for close to 1 million trucks and SUVs due to a deficiency in the owner's manual regarding the correct usage of head restraints. The affected vehicles include certain models of the 2018-2023 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs with third-row seats, as well as the 2019-2023 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600 Super Duty trucks in SuperCab or regular cab configurations equipped with the three-passenger front bench seat.
The missing information pertains to the proper adjustment of head restraints to provide optimal protection in the event of a collision. Ford highlights that improper adjustment may compromise the head and neck injury prevention capabilities of the restraints.
Beginning on July 10, Ford will initiate notifications to owners of the affected vehicles. Authorized dealers will perform the necessary updates to the owner's manuals and ensure proper adjustment of the head restraints at no cost to the customers.
This recall incident is not unprecedented, as similar recalls have occurred in the past due to missing information in owner's manuals. In 2019, General Motors recalled around 400,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks for a comparable issue.
